J.Agni Selvarasu, M.Sc., M.L.,            Founder & National President, Naadaalum Makkal Katchi (NMK)

J.Agni Selvarasu, M.Sc., M.L., Founder and National President of Naadaalum Makkal Katchi, was born on 21.06.1984, in Soraiyappattu village, Kazhumaram post, Thirukovilur taluk, Kallakurichi district, as the eldest son of social worker, Ku. Jayakkannan Udayar – Selvampal.

He completed his primary education, i.e., grades 1 and 2, at the above-mentioned Soraipattu village, Panchayat Union Primary School, grades 3 to 5, at the Panchayat Union Primary School, Ariyalur village, Vanapuram taluk, Kallakurichi district, grades 6 and 7, at the above-mentioned Ariyalur village Government Higher Secondary School, grades 8 to 10, at the Government Higher Secondary School, Bolur, Tiruvannamalai district, and grades 11 and 12, at the Municipal Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Tiruvannamalai.

During the past 2001-2004, when he studied Tamil literature at the State College, Chennai, he joined various social welfare organizations and did a lot of public welfare work. That is, he participated in various struggles conducted by various progressive movements related to the welfare of the people, including students, youth, and workers.

In addition, he has worked in art and literary organizations, doing Tamil work, poetry and drama, and has worked as an assistant editor and writer in art and literary magazines. He has also worked as a part-time announcer in radio stations in Chennai and Coimbatore.

Since his school days, he has been involved in various social works, including the National Welfare Scheme (NSS), the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and has done various welfare works for the welfare of students.

In 2003, he published his first poetry book, “Ind Himayathin Sigarangal”, and made a unique mark in the literary world as a revolutionary poet. The above poetry book was purchased by the Library Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of Puducherry in 2004.

The foreword to the above poetry book was given by the poet Surada. Poet M. Mehta delivered the felicitation address. Writer Mayilai Balu delivered the closing address. “Kanniyam” editor A.K.Kulothungal gave the introductory speech.

In addition, he has been honored with awards and special titles such as Mamanithar, Indian sculptor, Satyagrahi, Living Gandhi, Kanni Tamil poet (presented by poet Surada), Kavirajan, Kavimalumi, Kavimugil, Kaviyaruvi, Ilam Periyar, Ezhuchikavinar, Kavithilagam, Agni Arasan by learned elders, Tamil associations and social activists.

In 2005, while studying Bachelor of Laws at the Government Law College, Coimbatore, he founded the association “Agni Students Welfare Association” and led various struggles for the welfare of students and the progress of the people, and won. On 12.01.2008, he founded the association “Agni Bodu Nalasangam” and has done various public welfare and social welfare works.

In 2005, when he was studying law at the Coimbatore Government Law College, he was first arrested for besieging the Coimbatore District Collectorate office demanding special scholarships for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC-ST) people.

He has been on a hunger strike for 25 days so far for the welfare of students, for the welfare of the people, for the eradication of corruption (for 12 consecutive days demanding the implementation of Anna Hazare’s Jan Lokpal), for the welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils, and for the declaration of Tamil as a legal language in the Madras High Court.

As his first attempt at a political journey, in 2009, when he was studying for a Master’s degree in Law at Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, he With the lofty ideal that change can only come from honest youth, he united confident, courageous, honest, vibrant students, youth and social activists to eradicate corruption and bribery, protect natural resources and bring about good development in the country and started the “Nadalum Makkal Katchi”.

Subsequently, in the 2009 parliamentary elections, he contested from two parliamentary constituencies, Kallakurichi (7,009 votes) and Tiruvannamalai (0490 votes), gaining immense political experience.

Subsequently, in the 2011 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly general election, he contested from the Rishivanthiyam legislative assembly constituency and secured 1860 votes. It is noteworthy that in the aforementioned legislative assembly general election, he contested from 35 seats in Tamil Nadu along with youth from various organizations.

Following that, he duly registered the Nadalum Makkal Katchi with the Election Commission of India. Its registration number is 56/194/2020-2021. Following that, in the last 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly general election, he contested from Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvot
